South Australia is the only state to border
every other mainland state in Australia. The
state is the driest in the country, but the
south enjoys a Mediterranean climate and receives
enough rain to support a city and great wine
industry. The rest of South Australia is located
in the harsh Outback.
South Australia boasts a rich bounty of wine
and food. With 13 wine regions, it are known
as the wine and food centre of Australia.
South Australia has 3700 kilometres of stunning
coastline. The mighty Murray River wends its
serene way for 400km. right through the states
southern portions. By contrast, the giant salt
lakes of Lake Eyre and Gairdner are massive,
usually dry, and spectacular.
Adelaide is South Australia's capital city
and is situated on the Torrens river. The city
is in close proximatey to the Barossa Valley
which is one of Australia's premium wine producing
areas.
