The Commonwealth Government announcement to construct a Detention/Processing facility center on the island with 350 million to be spent over the next two years is well underway. The Asia Pacific Space Center (APSC) is progressing with construction of a satellite launch facility on the South Point of the island (ca. 20 km from settlement). Estimated cost of this project is 900 - 1100 million dollars, Their first launch is set to be 2004.
